This year's judge for Britain's Best Beach Donkey competition is Amber Brennan and today I went with her to Weymouth to see the first group of donkeys. When we got to the beach, I was really taken by the sea of colours and the huge crowds.

Britain's best beach donkeys
Where has the time gone! It only seemed like yesterday, but here I am getting ready to travel around the country during Britain's Best Beach Donkey Competition.
What did you say to us?
Many of you are probably more familiar with me writing blogs about what's going on around the Sanctuary and finding out interesting stories about some of the donkeys to pass on to you. Well, this blog is slightly different as I'm wearing my 'web editor' hat!
Mother and foal grooming
Last week I was at work particularly early one morning to watch some new arrivals from Ireland coming off the lorry and into their new home. The sun hadn't been up long and the birds were singing so I took a walk around the Sanctuary and sat for an hour watching Rosie, Francesca, Karray and Janet.
Hoof trimming with the farrier
If you were watching the webcam yesterday morning (9th July), you may have seen Colin trimming a couple of donkeys' hooves on the yard.
The two donkeys were Matt Jay and Billy who were both having their four weekly hoof trimmings while Emma held them.

Goodbye sweet Lady
The blogs I write are to share with you my personal thoughts and not those of the Sanctuary. In them I talk about the highs and the lows of my job working at the Sanctuary. This blog has been difficult to write because it's about the loss of a very special donkey - my own.
