The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) is the sister charity of The Donkey Sanctuary. To help fund the work of the EST, the Adopt a Donkey scheme was set up. All the donkeys that work for the EST are owned by The Donkey Sanctuary.
The idea behind the EST is to encourage children with disabilities to ride something soft and gentle, building their confidence.
Each adoption donkey has been selected because of its gentle and placid nature and has undergone special training at our Training Centre.
By adopting a donkey from one of the EST centres, you will be helping to provide enjoyment to children with special needs and disability.

How do I renew my adoption?
If you have already adopted a donkey at one of the EST centres, shortly before your adoption expires you should receive a renewal letter. You then have the choice to continue your adoption of your chosen donkey or not. If you chose to continue you may use the form provided or alternatively use the online adoption renewal facility.
