Helping donkeys like James, Laurel and Hardy

James

Helping donkeys like James

Poor James was found abandoned in Coleraine, Northern Ireland in 2011. He had painfully long, twisted and cracked hooves but thankfully we were able to rescue him.

James had his hooves trimmed by our farrier, allowing him to walk more easily and it took several farrier visits before James regained an ideal walking posture. James gained in confidence while under the sanctuary’s loving care and he formed a strong bond with his best friend Bobby. Sadly, he died from liver damage but was able to live out his life - like thousands of other donkeys - after more than a year in the Sanctuary’s happy and peaceful surroundings.

Laurel and Hardy

Helping donkeys like Laurel and Hardy

Laurel and Hardy were rescued from years of neglect. They were severely malnourished and in great discomfort with painfully long feet and matted, lice-infested coats.

They were brought to our holding base in Buxton, Derbyshire where they were nursed back to health with the tireless help of our grooms, vets, farrier and dentist. They now live at our headquarters in Devon where they are guaranteed a safe and happy future.

A regular gift such as a Direct Debit allows us to plan for the future and reduces administrative costs.

They can also help to purchase the ongoing essentials in life - feed for donkeys for just £3 a month or bedding materials such as straw or wood shavings for a £5 monthly donation.

Please rest assured that any donation you give no matter how small will help to give more donkeys a safe, happy and healthy future.
