The Sanctuary is just one mile away from the Jurassic Coast. This is England's first World Heritage Site, which stretches for 95 miles from Exmouth in East Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset.
What's so special about the Jurassic Coast?
The coastline reveals rock formation from the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, documenting 185 million years of evolution. Landslides, a barrier beach and lagoon, cliffs and fossil beaches are some of the site’s most outstanding features.
Fossils
Fossils are the remains of creatures that died millions of years ago. They are a good way of telling how plants and animals have evolved. Fossils can be found on many of the sites along the coast.
