Last week I was filming at our rescue centre in Spain, El Refugio Del Burrito, for the European chapter of our new Donkey Sanctuary promotional DVD which is due to be launched during May 2009.
Filming was a great success and we achieved some lovely footage of the donkeys with amazing sunrise and sunset shots. I couldn't believe how dry the land was though - it was almost a scene from Out of Africa!
One-year-old Burrito was my favourite donkey and I loved to play and cuddle him whenever I could. I would run up and down alongside his fence and he would always playfully chase me.
Burrito's mother died whilst giving birth to him which made me feel so sad. His owners bottle fed him but could no longer care for him as they already had many horses to look after. I'm pleased that Burrito is safe in our care and I hope that one day I can visit him again.
The team are doing a wonderful job in caring for all the donkeys and mules - I'm looking forward to seeing the footage and can't wait to share it with you all next year...

Have just returned from Spain, we vistited the sanctuary, what a brilliant job these people do! So many lovely donkeys to see, can't think of a better place to go, very humbling indeed.
