Charlie meets a miniature

Charlie meets Twiggy

Charlie, a West Highland Terrier, came along with Sue and Guy to see the donkeys. They all enjoyed a walk around the Sanctuary stopping off to see the donkeys in and around the veterinary hospital, before walking up to see Torrent, a Poitou donkey, and our group of blind donkeys.

Down on the Main Yard were four miniature donkeys - Twiggy, Brandy, Gem and Star - who were relinquished to the Sanctuary in July of this year. To qualify as a miniature, a donkey must be under 91.44 centimetres (36 inches) in height!

Both Twiggy and Brandy were originally imported from Canada and they each have a son and daughter - Star is the son of Twiggy and Gem is the daughter of Brandy.

Sue had never been to the Sanctuary before and said "What's most impressive is that you can get close to the donkeys. There are signs up all around for you to read about them. I particularly liked the signs about their behaviour. I could spend hours here. What a lovely place".
