Donkeys provide essential transport to millions of people living below the poverty line. Though taken for granted, they are often a family's most reliable helper.
They are used for the most basic of needs such as carrying drinking water, food and fuel.

They help provide an income by transporting the family's goods to and from markets or carrying materials at building sites and brick kilns.
Yet sadly, when their donkey falls ill or becomes injured, very few owners can afford to pay for a vet to help ease their donkey's suffering.
Their donkey will often continue working despite the discomfort or pain they may be in.
In Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya and Mexico we provide our services in areas with high donkey populations.
Our mobile clinics are fully equipped with all the veterinary supplies needed to treat donkeys on-site.
The donkeys arriving at the clinics are often thin and exhausted. Teeth and foot problems are common.
The donkeys can be infested with worms or lice. They can suffer open wounds caused by poor harnessing or regular whipping.
Injuries from road traffic accidents are already increasingly common. And in some areas, terrible wounds can be inflicted by packs of dogs or even hyenas, particularly to young foals.
For the donkey, receiving treatment offers them a much deserved opportunity to rest and receive expert veterinary care.
These projects are funded entirely by donations and provide working donkeys with Sanctuary from Suffering.
