A visit by our mobile clinic is not just about treating the donkeys. We invest time working with owners teaching them more about their donkey's needs.
Staff talk through the donkey's condition or illness and any aftercare that the owner may need to help with.

They also suggest to owners how they can prevent re-occurring problems, such as harness wounds or lameness.
Some items may be given free to owners to help them look after their donkeys, such as:
- head collars to replace unsuitable halters made of nylon rope or metal chain, helping to minimize wounds to the donkey's nose and neck.
- soft cotton hobbles (as an alternative to rope or wire) to help minimize wounds to the animal's fetlocks when they are tied up.
- hoof picks which enable donkey owners to remove stones from their donkeys' hooves. This reduces the risk of a foot abscess.
- preventative and therapeutic saddles which provide relief to donkeys with back sores along their spine.
For the long-term, we are also working with local craftsmen to help them improve the equipment they are making. Improvements may involve replacing unsuitable materials with other better locally available materials.
All advice and support is given freely.
In this way, we can make life much more comfortable for the donkeys - providing Sanctuary from Suffering.
