These are just a few of the millions of donkeys we have been able to help over the last 40 years.

We are grateful to our supporters for helping us provide them with Sanctuary from Suffering.

Helping donkeys in the UK and Ireland

Donks had spent almost two years shut in a barn with two other donkeys. During this time, their hooves had become grossly overgrown and the amount of manure they were standing on was so deep that our welfare officers had to dig them out to rescue them. Donks and his friends have since made a full recovery and are guaranteed expert, loving attention in our care.

Helping donkeys in Europe

Hope was one of the first donkeys to arrive at our Sanctuary in Spain. She was savagely attacked by a gang of youths who used a shovel to chop of her ears. We sent an emergency lorry to Greece to rescue her and she now leads a happy and peaceful life in our care.

Helping donkeys in developing countries

Soad belongs to Mohammed in Egypt and she was literally starving to death when she arrived at our clinic. Her teeth were in a terrible condition and she was full of parasites. Our vet rasped her teeth and she was able to eat her first meal in weeks. She was also given a dose of wormer, treated for some minor wounds and the farrier trimmed her feet.

Bule was exhausted when she was brought to our clinic by Soritcha, an Ethiopian farmer. Despite suffering from a painful open wound on her back, she was still needed to carry the family's drinking water and crops every day. Our caring team provided essential first aid, gave her a dose of wormer and fitted a specially designed therapeutic saddle to give her wound a chance to heal.
