A special treat of carrot cake!

40th anniversary carrot cake

I can't tell you how excited we all were on Friday. News around the long ears was that there was going to be a special treat for us... and what a treat it turned out to be. A huge big carrot cake topped off with polo mints. Showing my good manners, I of course let my other donkey friends have first bite.

Just before we trotted onto the Main Yard, we watched the unveiling of a new plaque. I wasn't tall enough to read it myself, but one of our grooms told us it was to celebrate 40 years of Dr Svendsen caring for donkeys.

I was on my best behaviour all day while visitors to the Sanctuary came along to the anniversary party where I hear there was an exhibition of photos showing my donkey cousins working overseas. I wonder if I'll be able to sneak in and take a look!

I adopted Little VJ for my neice Parker Lapaine and she goes onto your site and we see pics of the donkeys indoors and out on the webcams. This has made me decide to renew the money next year for her as it gives her a real connection with the sanctuary and I hope teaches her animal welfare for life. It is great when you change the pic to a night time one because the kids can see their pet donkeys, (although they may never meet) being cosy and warm at night. Terrific work you do. Keep it up.
