Tough challenge

Ben reaches the finish line of the Grizzly

Well, my original description of the Grizzly as cold, wet, windy, muddy, slippery, demanding and strength sapping were absolutely correct. In all truth, Sunday's weather was quite kind, despite a strong wind; there were only a few wintery showers and the occasional hail storm which did make the ground very slippery and the bog section of the course even wetter and colder than I had hoped for.

It was an extremely tough challenge, made harder by only having had six weeks to train, but I completed the course in 4 hours 45 minutes and, despite the physical and mental challenges, I am really proud to say that I did my best.

The last five miles seemed to go on forever and every down hill slope section was met by another massive section of the East Devon coast line rising up in front of me but it was worth it all for the sense of achievement, a Grizzly survivor T shirt and knowing that we have raised money and awareness for our Sanctuary from Suffering campaign for all our overseas work.

For those of you who have been so kind as to donate money, thank you very much indeed, I appreciate your support and words of encouragement.
