In the Land of Love in Idleness

It was a beautiful summer like day here in North Carolina on Palm Sunday. My dear friend Lisa and I went to visit "our" Jake and his girls, April and Jenny. The best part of sitting in the grass leaning against a Donkey is recalling and living that moment everyday. How very fortunate you are at the Sanctuary!

In the Land of Love in Idleness

In the Land of Love in Idleness
With good grace I return each day
To wander with the gentle Donkeys
In this place I would surely stay.
All by myself I come to see
Them play, roll, bray or - just BE.
More strange than true
As I find my way,
My simple duty to tenderness
Watching Donkeys have their day.
In this Land of Love in Idleness
Where all strife can be met anon,
I respect this placid equine bliss
More yielding than a dream,
As I don my mantle of Donkey favors
And go - Calling good day!
And good night to all.
