The Donkey Sanctuary runs yearly workshops for its foster donkey owners and private donkey owners throughout the country and in fact for anybody who is interested in learning about donkeys. In 2009 the topic is ‘Why Does My Donkey….?’ which devotes the entire day to the understanding of donkey behaviour, the origins of the donkeys and why donkeys undertake the activities that they do. The tour will be taking place throughout the UK and Ireland.

The day includes descriptions of the ancestry and history of the donkey, how evolution, genetics and pain affects donkeys’ behaviour, the body language of donkeys, how we work and train with donkeys and the methods of approaching some of the common problems that we encounter when working and living with donkeys.

Hopefully, by creating a fun learning environment, participants will be able to enjoy learning about their donkey’s behaviour and by using donkeys for practical examples of learning and behaviour donkey owners and carers can improve their relationships with their donkeys by understanding their behaviour.
