For Thoughtful Pippa, Jenifer and all who loved beautiful Lady.
A Handmaid's Tail (for Pippa)
You know she won't be eating summer grasses
By your side on the Devon hills,
No sharing special carrot cake
Or treats you loved so well.
Her sparkling feet will step no more
With your protective gate,
Her collar hanging silently
Not able to avoid her fate.
You think perhaps, she'll miss the stars
And the moon beside shines pale,
As you remember swishing flies away
From one another with your
Steadfast tails.
She pulled through once
When it was close,
With love from all
She rose strong once again
But now, words find
A lonely loss even with
All the hugs you'll claim.
So many hearts will miss gentle Lady
Coming down the Sanctuary path,
So many loving memories to bloom
Like violets in the grass.
And there, thoughtful Pippa will be
With patience that has no end,
Lady's handmaiden...
Communing with her spirit friend.
