On Monday 13th July from 1.30pm, ten pupils from Sidmouth College will be given their first chance to see their mural painting of Kenya at The Donkey Sanctuary's Box 16 exhibition.

As part of the charity's Sanctuary from Suffering campaign, which focuses predominantly on the international aspect of its work, pupils from surrounding schools were invited to paint murals of the areas that The Donkey Sanctuary now operates in overseas.

In addition to Sidmouth College's Kenya mural, Egypt, Mexico and India were completed by The Kings School in Ottery St. Mary, Magdalen Court School in Exeter painted Europe, while staff at the Sanctuary got to work on Ethiopia.

Dawn Vincent, The Donkey Sanctuary's Press Officer, says "The pupils have been invited to see their mural and the exhibition as a whole. It's a really colourful display and materials local to each country are also on view."

"The pupils will be given a talk from The Donkey Sanctuary's overseas department, before having a photo taken in front of their work, and then finally participating in various activities with the donkeys such as grooming and walking them. We're very grateful to all of the schools involved because without their help none of this would have been possible".

The Box 16 exhibition is open to the public and is situated within the main sanctuary site.

The Donkey Sanctuary has a core belief that children are the future carers of donkeys both in the UK and overseas, and that they should be educated to understand the needs of donkeys.
