Opening Doors

I frequently watch the video clips (thank you for those!) of Teddy and Nicholas II opening their respective barn doors. I loved to take a poetic stance on this metaphor and the result is the following poem. Gratitude in all for Teddy and Nicholas II.

Opening Doors

You can open many doors
In your particular Donkey way
Helping you to your friends
Or helping you and your friends
To a bit of hay.
But the doors you open for me
Hold mystic transport to my heart
You reveal a soul of sunny days
And moonbeams, secret sources
Of your art.
For Donkeys know just what
The soul is made of
So carefully they range,
Drawing images that
Speak across species
A living canvas to beautifully paint.
So open all the doors!
Dear Teddy and Nicholas Two
I'll pick up the focus of my life
And gladly step through with you.
