I took this photo last year of Torrent, a very gentle giant. Until you've stood next to a Poitou donkey, you really don't know how tall they are. This picture adds some scaling. He's not the tallest in the Poitou group!

Unfortunately his companion, Gypsy, was grazing in the field alongside at the time.
