Tim is the little Shetland pony which came into our care in July and I’m pleased to tell you all that he’s doing equally well to his donkey companions, Laurel and Hardy.

On first impressions I found Tim to be the most inquisitive in the group to the point that it was difficult to take their photos because he’d keep walking up to the camera!

And he’d repeatedly knock over the wheelbarrow for a scratch which was quite funny at first, but I soon discovered it was because he was the most lice-infested and constantly itched. Thankfully, he has made a full recovery and has stopped knocking over the wheelbarrow - much to the delight of his carers at Newton Farm!

Joy Wilcox, one of his carers, told me: “Timmy does his own thing now – he’s very independent and isn’t really bonded to Laurel and Hardy. But he is very happy and loves to graze on the fresh grass in the paddock they all share.”

Joy was also telling me today that Laurel and Hardy, as they have become fitter and healthier, are now much more playful which is lovely to hear. She said: “These donkeys and Tim are entitled to be a little grumpy given the life they led before their rescue but in fact they have such wonderful natures – they are just fabulous to have here.”
