20 miles here I come!

David is lending Donna his support!

I now only have just over 3 weeks to go before my Dublin Marathon challenge. The weather has not been too kind and on many of occasions now I have been soaking wet or knee deep in mud. On one race we had to cross a stream which was freezing cold and fast flowing as it had rained all day the day before. But it's all good fun really.

The thing I have found the most strange is just how addictive running is. I have said to many people who ask why I'm doing such a mad thing that running to me is like smoking or chocolate to them. I am well and truly hooked and think I will be continuing to run after the marathon. As to whether I do another one or not, well we will have to see what happens this time.

I have taken a half day from work today to complete my final long run before I start winding down. 20 miles here I come!

Please do dig deep and sponsor me. The Donkey Sanctuary, as I'm sure many of you are well aware, is a fantastic charity which relies heavily on donations to keep it running. Please visit my Justgiving fundraising page

I will give another update before I go and let you know how I got on afterwards. Many thanks.

A tough challenge ahead

Dear Donna,
It is great to hear an update and best of luck to you! I sponsored you early on so I am glad others are too! Since you have found a love of running, here is a very great book to get from one of my favorite authors, Bernd Heinrich: "Why We Run, a Natural History". Professor Henrich is a runner as well. And when you finally get a rest you can then read about running! I love to walk (best with my dog or a Donkey). Good Luck once again and I will be urging you on...

Warmest regards,

Jenny B.

Hello Jenny,

Thank you very much for sponsoring me and for your kind comments. I will keep my eyes out for the book you recommended. I do sometimes think I might prefer walking and I think I definitely will only want to be walking this time in two weeks! I also have a couple of dogs and we enjoy our long countryside walks.

Many thanks again,
Donna
