A Good Book in Winter

Get a good Donkey book this Winter
Donkeys really are like books
Give a Donkey book as a gift
A gift should have an underlying
Quality of Serenity
Enlarge our Understanding
Leave a deep sense of Satisfaction
Like a good book, a Donkey can
Look at you and you feel like
Having a reunion.
Donkeys are love gracefully given
Accept the fact that you care about them
And they let you take them in your
Hand like a bird
Momentarily, or for a lifetime.
This Winter I will read my Donkey books
I will think of Fred Snook,
My ultimate vision of Winter's simplicity
So take a long Donkey's look at life this Winter
If you love a Donkey
Love fully given
You will likely find
That love returned.
There is something steadfast
And you will withstand the
Chilling winds of trouble
Storms that assail the heart,
Even a thought of a Donkey by your side
Will give the endurance and character
To wait quietly for Spring.
