Ashley's been feeling a little off colour

Ashley's midnight feed

Little Ashley has been a little off colour the past couple of days so his feed has been adjusted slightly to accommodate this. He is still drinking his milk from his sterilised bowl but now has a special glucose/salt/milk powder mixture instead of just milk powder to ensure he is getting just the right levels of nutrition for his ever changing growing needs.

After a rather windy and rough drive through the night to give Ashley his midnight feed, whereby I narrowly avoided a jaywalking badger ambling along the road in search of tasty titbits, I pulled up at the stables only to discover Ashley flat out on his warm bed of straw fast asleep!

By the time his milk was ready though, he was wide awake and patiently waiting by his stable door. With a very quick ‘hello’ his little furry muzzle was straight into the bowl and within seconds and without pausing for breath the milk was gone. He even managed some ‘seconds’, then after a few cuddles he was off to say hello to his friend Mr Khan, who had himself just enjoyed a nice warm drink of milk from his mother Oonagh.

After sterilising Ashley’s feeding equipment and saying goodnight to him, I drove home through the dark, quiet country lanes only to meet again with another badger (or was it the same one?) this time darting across the road at a very impressive speed in front of me - a rare occasion indeed to be fortunate enough to see two badgers in one day for us non-nocturnal creatures!

I was sorry to read that Ashley has been a bit off colour I do hope that this is just a temporary blip as he has done so well thanks to all the efforts of his loving carers. Fingers crossed he soon bucks up. Good luck

Can we have the latest news of dear Ashley, please? I'm sure there must be many others like me who have been thinking about him and wondering about his health since he was feeling 'a bit off colour' 10 days ago. Many thanks to all concerned in giving him so much loving care.
