Did you see donkey Mickey D’s story on BBC Animals 24:7? The programme aired on 9th December 2009 and told the story Mickey’s relinquishment to the Sanctuary last year and his relocation to a new life in Devon.
Mickey had been living with another donkey that he was strongly bonded to and after his friend died, Mickey started showing physical signs of stress. His owners bravely decided that for the good of his health he should come and live with our donkeys.
I went along to Woods farm to meet Mickey and see how he has settled in to Sanctuary life. Whilst he is still a quiet natured donkey I was pleased to see how well he socialises with the group of donkeys he is living with and watch him resting in the barn under one of the heat lamps. Although he has not yet found another donkey to bond with, he is getting on famously with our residents and enjoys playing in the paddock.
While I was there Mickey went for a run around in the paddock with one of his friends, Patricia. I hope you enjoy watching this short film of their antics.

How sweet does it get? Look at them, lovely animals.
He's doing well and looking good!
Bless Mickey D!
So nice to see him in better spirits...love him :)
