Fabio was taken in by The Donkey Sanctuary as his owners were concerned he was too lonely. They were also struggling to deal with his increasingly poor behaviour and we believe Fabio may have experienced some sort of trauma in a former life.

He was extremely nervous when he first arrived in December 2009. Being so strong, he would kick out at anyone entering his stable. It took almost eight weeks to build up enough trust with Fabio for him to feel comfortable being caught and have a head collar put on, and now we are concentrating on making him feel at ease to be groomed, have his feet picked out and have a veterinary check.

Due to his young age of just four years, Fabio is now living amongst a group of young donkeys in the hope that he will soon make a new friend his own age.
