Essex pub to hold charity event in aid of donkeys

The Donkey Sanctuary is being supported by the kind landlords of a pub near Great Bromley in Essex, who have organised a Donkey Day fundraising event on Sunday 2nd May from 11am to 3pm.

Brenda and Richard Perry at The Cross Inn, on Ardleigh Road, have held their Donkey Day for several years now, helping to raise vital donations for the charity, which provides sanctuary from suffering to donkeys worldwide.

Their event will be defined by the presence of two miniature donkeys, Tia and Ouzo for people to pet, whilst a raffle, tombola and stalls selling donkey gifts and cakes will help raise money for the charity. A two-course set lunch costing £7.50 is also being laid on, with all profits going to The Donkey Sanctuary.

Dawn Vincent, who has worked for the charity for over 13 years, says: “Brenda and Richard are very kind people and we can’t thank them enough for running this event each year. We rely entirely on donations and couldn’t exist without this kind of compassion and generosity. We hope it’s a huge success for them.”

Dawn recently spoke with Brenda who said: “We are very much looking forward to our donkey day because it’s such a wonderful way to fundraise for a cause that spreads its goodness throughout the world. Everyone gets to find out more about the Sanctuary, cuddle the donkeys, have some lunch and hopefully take something home with them – it’s a most enjoyable day.”
