I love to get out and about during Donkey Week and especially meeting and chatting with our special ‘Donkey Weekers’. Anne and David, a super friendly couple from Eastbourne in East Sussex, were telling me that they enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and how being with the donkeys is the most relaxing of all; therapeutic even.

I asked them both the question; why are donkeys special to you? For me, there is something very special about them but to put your finger on it, or even find a word that sums it up is almost impossible! I wasn’t surprised that Anne’s answer was... “You can’t put it into words”, whilst David described some of their best qualities... “inoffensive, placid, relaxing...”.

Later on, Anne came up to me, having had time to think about my question. She told me donkeys are special because they are MAGIC, pure magic. I couldn’t agree more.
