Ashley and his donkey foal friends can be found at Shelter 2 here at the Sanctuary... they all love the fuss and attention, so come along and see them when in the area. In the meantime, we've put together a short video clip of Ashley with Maxine Carter (farm manager) who manages to undo both her shoe laces in such a short time!
When the foals are about 9 months old, they'll be weaned from their mothers. In Ashley's case, because his mother died giving birth, Breda has done a great job of being his foster mum by looking after him and making sure he doesn't get up to too much mischief.
What a joy to see the video of Ashley so lively and mischievous. Congratulations to everyone who took part in rearing him - now you have your reward for the extra care and love you gave that tiny orphan. It must be wonderful to see him enjoying the life that you made possible. Thanks, also, for giving us the chance to watch his progress. Hugs to all concerned but especially to Ashley and his foster-Mum!

We saw Ashley and his mates in paddock 2 last week and he was looking really good. He came straight up to the fence for a fuss and it was a great pleasure to see him for real after watching his progress via your website.
It was our first visit to Sidmouth and we were more than impressed with what we saw and had a really good day.
