Caring for donkeys... what an experience!

Donkey walking with donkey carers

At every "donkey carer day" it's great to meet the people who come along to spend time with the donkeys from mucking out, grooming and taking the donkeys for a walk around the Sanctuary. Even when it's pouring with rain or the Sanctuary's covered in a layer of thick fog, their huge smiles and joy of just being with the donkeys shine through so brightly.

On a lovely sunny day here in Devon today we have Brian and Diane from West Sussex who were given a "donkey carer day" gift to each of them by their friend June, who is also here with them sharing the experience.

Chris and Kim are from Bedfordshire and have chosen to spend their day with Groucho and Dennis, two relatively newcomers to this group of donkeys, but both fitting in very well and certainly enjoying their day being pampered!

Two good friends, Sandra and Valerie, have joined us from Essex and had certainly given their two donkeys, Abbie and Connor, a very good grooming before they headed out with the rest of the group for a walk around the Sanctuary.

Joseph and Dixie were being cared for by friends Margaret and Kerry. Joseph is the smallest donkey in the group, but certainly didn't miss out of any fuss and attention with Margaret as his donkey carer.

All the way from Perthshire is Isabel who spent her day with Shirgar. Having already been 'clipped out' for summer, he looked a handsome donkey while having his photo taken!
