I was lucky enough to name Cinnamon in last year's competition and am delighted with the news of the birth of her foal. Isn't he handsome?? It is so good that now she is safe and well treated and her foal will live a very comfortable life too because of the caring staff at the Donkey Sanctuary. Well done to everyone involved there.

Hi Pam,

Thanks for posting your comment. For our readers who don't know, Cinnamon came into the Sanctuary in 2009 along with 17 other donkeys following a complaint initiated by our welfare officers in Yorkshire. Prior to their arrival, the RSPCA had cared for the 18 donkeys for about six months pending prosecution of the owner for neglect. Having successfully prosecuted the owner, the RSPCA were able to hand over the donkeys to the Sanctuary.

None of these donkeys had a name so we asked our supporters to suggest a name and on Christmas Eve they were given the gift of a name.
