Sarah and J Barclay

Sarah and J Barclay

Sarah came to live with us over 3 years ago after having retired from the Sanctuary's sister charity, the Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys. Sarah is well trained, clever and sensitive. It has taken her a while to train her humans to know that she does not like situations which remind her of work! Her retirement hobbies are... Eating, Eating and Briefly cantering around the field chasing J Barclay and braying with delight!

J Barclay has lived with us for 7 years and is a mild mannered, dapper donkey. I like to think his mother told him "If you ever go and live with new people, be sure to be on your best behaviour". J Barclay found Sarah to be a bit of a handful at first - and she taught him to eat our fences, but they are better matched nowadays and are never far away from each other.
