Last week I was sat in the office wondering where does time go and noticing that the leaves on the trees were beginning to turn a golden colour. With the calendar poised to enter a new month, I wondered if we might have any donkeys called September and here she is!

September is a beautiful white coloured donkey who lives at Brookfield Farm along with 267 other donkeys. She is 13 years of age and has been in our care since 2007.

And what a lovely day to go and take photos of September with her donkey friends! I met the grooms at the farm and we walked down through the fields where we were greeted by donkeys taking time out of grazing to look up and see who was coming over.

As we walked along their neat little donkey track that the donkeys had carved into the hillside over the years, one donkey stood out - it was September standing motionless staring into the valley below. I wonder what her thoughts were? Looking around, I was in awe of the beautiful view of the countryside as we stood surrounded by donkeys.

What came across while talking to the grooms is that they clearly love the donkeys in their care. I heard about donkeys that you couldn't go anywhere near, but gradually over time the donkeys had learnt to trust them and would come up for cuddles and be groomed.
