I felt I had to 'have my bray' concerning the anonymous statement supporting Mr. Brookes' comments on the BBC. No man can tell what the true intent of giving does for the individual. And I would have to hesitate and remind anonymous that their whole statement is based on 'Man' being above any other life, or living creature. Whereas, I say we are only different in kind not degree of significance. Oh yes, 'Man' has gotten himself to a state of evolution that is very complex as opposed to other mammals. But emotionally, I would state we are equal and sometimes bettered by our fellow creatures. I must quote from a Rabbi who seemed to state the situation quite simply:
'I do not know wherein I could be better then a worm. For see: he does the will of his Maker and destroys nothing.'
A book I would recommend also is "The Beasts of Bethlehem", verse by X.J. Kennedy.
Thank you.
