Meet local celebrities Helmet and Brownie

Helmet and Brownie are happy in their new foster home

A month ago, two foster donkeys left the Sanctuary on a journey to their new home in North Wales.

Eight year old Helmet and ten year old Brownie came to The Donkey Sanctuary in October 2007 and soon formed a strong bond with each other. They both had lovely friendly natures and were good to catch and handle, so their grooms thought they would make lovely additions to a foster home, where they would also receive the one-to-one attention they so clearly enjoyed.

Mr Ivens' home in Gwynedd provided the perfect opportunity for donkeys and humans alike, and so after all the necessary preparations had been made, the donkey duo joined the family on 8th February 2012.

One month on, and it seems Helmet and Brownie have settled in so well that they have become local celebrities! Neighbours pop by to say hello and the pair are already frequently spotted being walked around the local area. They even have adoring fans as far afield as Massachusetts, USA, where family friends have fallen in love with them after being sent photographs.

Mr Ivens told us that they were fantastic donkeys, and the donkeys themselves have even 'written' to us to say that they are "having a great time". A brilliant outcome for two amazing donkeys.
