This Easter, The Donkey Sanctuary will be hosting two weeks of events, starting Sunday 1st April, for families who love donkeys and the countryside at the charity’s headquarters in Sidmouth.

Families can take part in an Easter-themed treasure hunt around the Sanctuary, creative art and craft sessions, and on 5th and 10th of April get busy making bug boxes for the mini-beasts in their garden.

The Sanctuary’s wildlife expert James Chubb will be leading a Wildlife Ramble on Thursday 12th April, to catch up with some of the wild residents, including searching for slow worms and discovering dormice in their natural habitats.

For families with budding donkey grooms, there are two hands-on ‘Donkey Dudes’ sessions on 3rd and 10th April for under 16s to get involved with special one-on-one sessions with the donkeys and learn about grooming and caring for these wonderful creatures.

James Chubb says: “We’ve had a fantastic response to our wildlife events and it’s brilliant to see so many families getting to grips with the amazing creatures that live on and around our beautiful farms. This Easter, we have something on every day; we have plenty of creative sessions for younger children to make Easter bonnets and cards, so there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.”

On Sunday 15th April, the Sanctuary will hold its Family Fun Day Easter finale between 10am and 3pm. There will be a produce show, stalls, games, a bouncy castle, face painting and much more.
