On Wednesday 18th April 2012, our events team held their first “Knit and Natter” group here at the Sanctuary. As the knitted and crotchet donkeys lovingly made by our supporters are so popular with visitors buying them, we decided we should have a get together for a donkey themed knitting session. Both visitors and staff turned up with balls of wool and knitting needles at the ready.
Phoebe Park said "I have only been knitting a short time and my most technical item achieved so far is a rather fetching stripy hat! I hadn't been expecting that I would be teaching others but was delighted to see my colleague, Claire Shapcott, achieve her first ever rows of knitting after I had shown her the basics."
Our more accomplished knitters were clicking away and a mini knitted donkey appeared before our eyes as well as a crocheted donkey phone sock. Of course we made time for tea and biscuits and the nattering was non-stop.
We would love you to join us for the next “Knit and Natter”. Everyone is welcome and we can provide help for beginners. There is a selection of donkey themed patterns to choose from so you will have a furry friend in no time.
The next “Knit and Natter” sessions will be on:
- 30th May 2012 - 10am to 12pm
- 27th June 2012 - 2pm to 4pm
Come and meet us in Box 16. Refreshments will be provided.
Donations gratefully received.
