Evoking a feeling of the donkey's mood

Donkku

Have you seen what one of our supporters has come up with? Some of you may have already seen it mentioned on our Facebook page or during Donkey Week. It's a call for all you budding writers out there and is called Donkku. It’s a creative piece of work by photographer Ade Fishpool and is a three line poem inspired by the model of the Japanese haiku and the strong bonds between humans and donkeys (and other equines).

The Donkku website is designed to tell you all about writing a donkku and provides some images to help inspire you. For those fresh from Donkey Week you will already be brimming with inspiration so just pop along to find out about the few but important rules of a donkku.

Some supporters and staff at the Sanctuary have already written a donkku (or two) and you can find them among the images on the website. Once you’ve had a go yourself you can submit your donkku(s) using the contribute page on the site and if you have any questions there is also a contact form.

Please take some time, visit the site and join in; we’re very excited about the project and hope you will be too! As it says on the site ‘a donkku should evoke a feeling of the donkey's mood... It's all about the ears really!’
