The Donkey Sanctuary is inviting dog owners and donkey lovers to its first ever dedicated Family Dog Show and BBQ at its Sidmouth headquarters on Sunday 24th June 2012.

The day kicks off at 11:30am with the first dog class and there will be lots of fun activities to take part in and stalls to browse throughout the day, whilst the BBQ and refreshments on offer will help to satisfy those lunchtime hunger pangs.

Owners can enter their dogs into the following classes with an entry fee of £1.50 per dog per class:

  • Perfect Puppy
  • Handsomest Hound
  • Prettiest Pooch
  • Shiniest Coat
  • Waggiest Tail
  • Golden Oldie
  • Cutest Eyes
  • Childs Best Friend
  • Best in Show
  • Best of the Rest

Funds raised from the dog show and BBQ will be used to help the charity reach donkeys in need the world over.

Claire Shapcott, The Donkey Sanctuary’s Events Supervisor explains:

“Our first ever Family Dog Show and BBQ offers something for everyone to enjoy. For the competitive dog owners amongst you there are some excellent first prizes for each dog class, kindly donated by Candid Devon Photography. There will be stalls selling everything from handcrafted jewellery and wooden carvings, and Honiton Pottery will be helping owners capture their canine’s paw prints in clay. Please spread the word among family and friends and we hope to see you and your four legged friends on the day!”
