I'm feeling quite tired today - it was a long drive to meet a donkey called Tacita and I think we got a little lost too. I didn't mind though as I didn’t want to miss a thing - from the people cooking food at the side of the road, to the crazy traffic. Of course I was always looking out for any donkeys that were roaming outside their owner's houses or being used to carry goods.
It took four and a half hours to find Tacita and what a beautiful donkey she is who simply wanted to play.
Tacita survived against all odds. She was attacked by wild dogs which left her with a serious wound on her head resulting in her right ear being removed by Omar the vet. The saddest thing of all is that Tacita's mother died in the attack - if only we could save all the donkeys.
I was expecting one year old Tacita to be quite nervous after her ordeal but oh no!!!
Tacita is a cheeky little donkey who had great fun pulling at my camera strap, my coat and at one point I had to run and save my note pad which had all my work in!!!
I was pleased to see that a mare horse had taken Tacita under her wing and was acting as her mother. In fact Tacita was definitely acting as a child when we were leaving. She lay down in front of the gate so we couldn't leave and after a gentle beep of the van's horn she jumped up and peered into the van with her big brown eyes to say goodbye.

Heartbreaking to see the photos of little Tacita, but lovely to see how she is doing now!
My other half has a real soft spot for donkeys and as a Xmas present I'm definitely going to see if I can sponsor a donkey for him!
Carry on your amazing work.

If you can buy one - it will reward you both so much - we have hours of pleasure with ours, Alan & Alice!
I've seen the pics before and after the treatment and I just can say one thing: Great job!!!
Thanks to all who work for the Welfare.
