This is my tenth Donkey Week as a member of Donkey Sanctuary staff and there is one special lady I look forward to seeing every year. Meet Mo Flenley, my 'number one' donkey weeker. Mo has been coming to Donkey Week for an incredible 27 years, and she would have attended all 28, if the first year hadn’t been fully booked by the time she spotted the advert in the paper.
Donkey Week
Now it’s personal and all about tractors!!
On Saturday, International Donkey Week took our wonderful supporters to Paccombe Farm which lies in the beautiful valley of Harcombe near Sidmouth. As it was my day off, I took my Senior PR Officer ‘hat’ off and thought I’d be a Donkey Weeker instead!
“The one word that sums donkeys up... MAGIC”
I love to get out and about during Donkey Week and especially meeting and chatting with our special ‘Donkey Weekers’. Anne and David, a super friendly couple from Eastbourne in East Sussex, were telling me that they enjoy the wonderful atmosphere and how being with the donkeys is the most relaxing of all; therapeutic even.
And so Donkey Week really begins...
Although Tuesday is the start of International Donkey Week, today (Wednesday) is really when the fun begins here at our main Sanctuary in Sidmouth!

International Donkey Week

International Donkey Week is a holiday with a difference - a chance for you to have close contact with our donkeys in glorious settings. You can groom, cuddle or just sit and watch the donkeys, which, we hasten to add, is very relaxing and therapeutic.
Every year The Donkey Sanctuary holds this unique week's holiday, relaxing down among the donkeys.
Lucky Dip Projects!
This week is a very special week here at the Donkey Sanctuary - it's Donkey Week! Many of the departments here at the Sanctuary have been putting together talks and presentations to tell the donkey weekers a bit about what we do. When I was asked to give a talk I was delighted, I'm always very happy to talk about the work that we do to improve our knowledge of donkeys and mules in sickness and in health.
