Ashley and his donkey foal friends can be found at Shelter 2 here at the Sanctuary... they all love the fuss and attention, so come along and see them when in the area. In the meantime, we've put together a short video clip of Ashley with Maxine Carter (farm manager) who manages to undo both her shoe laces in such a short time!

Adoring fans can now visit Ashley
From Thursday 4th March, adoring fans will be able to visit orphaned foal Ashley for the first time at the Sidmouth-based Donkey Sanctuary.
Ashley has a huge personality
I'm delighted to bring you the latest film clip of our adorable Ashley!
Ashley was sadly orphaned at birth and thanks to the dedication of staff caring for him, and the company of the donkeys he now lives with, he is growing from strength to strength.
An Ashley video update...better late than never!
I am delighted to add this new film of Ashley to the website but I must tell you it is a little out of date due to some technical problems I have had!
Discovering Ashley was lactose intolerant
Ashley is 6 weeks old now and continues to thrive, turning into a very bright, handsome little donkey. His diet has changed again to meet his needs as we have discovered he is lactose intolerant, so he now enjoys several drinks of goats milk a day and some tasty nuts at night.
Ashley's been feeling a little off colour
Little Ashley has been a little off colour the past couple of days so his feed has been adjusted slightly to accommodate this. He is still drinking his milk from his sterilised bowl but now has a special glucose/salt/milk powder mixture instead of just milk powder to ensure he is getting just the right levels of nutrition for his ever changing growing needs.
