Last week I met a truly inspirational couple. It was a lovely sunny morning when I went over to the Visitors' Centre to meet Judy and Alan Bishop, where I found them busily stocking up on donkey goodies.
Become a fundraiser
With so many donkeys needing help in the UK and overseas, The Donkey Sanctuary is always grateful for any assistance you may be able to give in raising much-needed funds. We are fortunate to have a large group of voluntary fundraisers who kindly help us in very many ways, this could be anything from a coffee morning every month, to an annual gala ball. All we ask for is as little or as much time as you feel you can give because every single penny assists us in our vital work.
We would be delighted to give you any advice, support and assistance you may require. A fundraising pack is available on request and we produce a bi-annual voluntary fundraisers' newsletter to keep you up to date with all the latest news and views. We will also supply you with a copy of our fundraising guidelines leaflet which has been drawn up for the benefit of both you and our charities, outlining rules and regulations which must be complied with.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer fundraiser, or have any questions, please contact us.
Judy and Alan... a truly inspirational couple
Judy's special trip to donate a gift to the donkeys
Judy and Alan Bishop from Colchester in Essex made a special visit to the Sidmouth-based Donkey Sanctuary on Judy’s 60th birthday to hand deliver a donation of £150.00 to help donkeys worldwide.
All smiles for our "donkey carers"
It was all smiles for Wendy, Jo, Elizabeth, Simon, Kathy, Iris, Joanne, John and Denise today as they each walked a donkey around the Sanctuary as part of their "Donkey Carer Experience Day".
This morning the donkey carers spent time finding out about donkeys before being given the chance to "muck out", feed and groom their donkey.
Essex pub to hold charity event in aid of donkeys
The Donkey Sanctuary is being supported by the kind landlords of a pub near Great Bromley in Essex, who have organised a Donkey Day fundraising event on Sunday 2nd May from 11am to 3pm.
Natasha's marathon inspired by donkeys
Later this month a Bedfordshire lady is running the London Marathon in aid of two charities, including The Donkey Sanctuary, based near Sidmouth in Devon.
33-year-old Natasha Blott, from Leighton Buzzard, is looking forward to running the 26 - mile race on Sunday 25th April to help donkeys.
