Animals' Angels is an international animal welfare organisation founded in March 1998 by Christe Blanke. Based in Germany, its main activity is following and monitoring the long journeys endured by animals for slaughter across Europe and trying to ensure that regulations regarding rest, feeding and watering are adhered to.
The Donkey Sanctuary has worked closely with Animals’ Angels since its foundation to specifically monitor the transport of donkeys and mules throughout Europe on our behalf.
The Greek Animal Welfare Fund (GAWF) is a non-profit organisation founded in 1959, dedicated to improving animal welfare in Greece. GAWF is working on a wide range of issues including Humane Education programmes in schools, veterinary care for stray animals, neutering campaigns, veterinary equine programmes and lobbying for improved laws for animal protection. The Donkey Sanctuary sponsors GAWF to run a mobile veterinary clinic specifically to treat donkeys and mules on the Greek Islands around three times each year.
European Welfare Network
Should we receive complaints of cruelty and/or neglect of donkeys in Europe, we are able to call on the help of these charities and many more who can take action on our behalf.
